I was thinking about adding a little of this to my bichir tank for the color, it’s not a planted tank, think it will hurt anything?

It "may" turn your water cloudy for a while, with particulate that is too small to easily filter out.
It is quite expensive and will probably not amount to much as a help to the health of a fish only tank.
If I already had a bag, I'd save it as an incentive to start a future planted tank.
