Was thinking about making my 75g into a planted tank with drift wood and beach sand, with some small fish like puffer fish and ect... is it hard? is it harder to keep it clean... just trying to do some research before i converge over to a planted... lighting and stuff and is sand good enough to keep them planted in? and what type of chemicals / plant fertilizer materials do i need.. And which type of fish do you recommend getting in a planted tank def getting fresh water puffer fish :P

I jsut cant make my mind up on a game fish tank or planted :(

Also not really looking to run any crazy setup with co2 and such jsut want some simple plants so if any 1 can help me out great :) such as plants like

Blyxa Japonica
and some java ferns

anything that doesent need a whole lot....

check out the stickies, lots of great info there. blyxa japonica probably wont grow for you. its fairly demanding and needs good co2/light

i have been looking at the stickes, and found that all of the plants listed below dont need co2 which is what i want.

Java Moss
Beckett's cryptocoryne
Giant bacopa
Java fern
Eichhornia azurea
Amazon sword

which is what i need, but they do need substrate to be rooted in, i have like a beach sand... so what is substrate?
