any one do a heavily live planted tank for a serraslmus? if so any tips would be appreciated as i have a 6'' rhombeus and i am upgrading him to a 180 and wanted to do live planted
I just replanted my 100gallon solo sanchezi tank. You already have lights? My only advice is make sure all you driftwood is cured lol so you dont have to wait to finish aquascaping while you soak floating wood. Also quarantine or dip your plants so you dont get snails even buying from reputable sources you may get a few hitchhiking and in a 180 heavily planted Serra tank I'm assuming there aren't going to be "tankmates" to eat the snails and they can become a problem. Keep us posted
Typically marine lighting spectrums do not support freshwater plants you want bulbs in the 7500k range for the t5 lighting the LED depends what spectrum it's in. What brand and what are the specifics of the led fixture?
The t5 ati coral bulbs will not work for freshwater plants it's about a 460nm range buy new bulbs specifically for freshwater plants in the 6500k-10000k range best is 7500k or mix the bulbs up some 6500k some 7500k maybe 1 10000k. The led is it blue spectrum or white?
I doubt it will have any benefit to the freshwater plants as the blue spectrum is not beneficial only to marine corals. I wouldnt use the led fixture for the planted rhom tank.
How tall is that tank? 2 t5s is not enough for a 180 IMO but you could do some low tech plants that dont need too much light, Anubias seem to survive in low light quite well. Some swords may do fine especially if you get a big sword the leaves will be large and close to the surface so it may be enough light.
