Ok, first of all I've been a member for a while now and this site has made me a much better fishkeeper. My tank has grown alot over the past few years, but I've kept mostly cichlids so I haven't been much on the plants. Lately I feel like something natural is missing from the tank. I am running 2 fluval 404's filled with bio media, and first basket of fiberfill. Hagen 200w heater and standard fluorescent lights (2 GE 18W bulbs). substrate is play sand mixed with black sand. Stock includes 1-8" male salvini, 1-10" pleco. 1-8" senegal, 1-6" hoplo catfish, and 1-6" green terror.
Tanks has been running for about 13 months with this setup without a problem whatsoever.
I want to add some type of low light, non "planted" plants if that makes any sense. Was thinking about Some sort of anubias, java fern, and some type of moss, all to be attached to driftwood. Should I be ok with this lighting or should I upgrade before purchasing more plants? I was thinking of upgrading to the GLO lighting T-5 HO's if needed....heard good reviews. I have a DIY co2 system from another tank that could be replicated if needed, and I plan to fertilize with some sort of liquid.
I have attached a somewhat recent picture of my tank so please let me know any ideas you might have, and also what type of lighting, plants, or fertilizer I may need. Thanks

forget about T5HO for a lowlight setup, they're too intense. anubias, ferns, and mosses will do just fine with the light you have.

you wont need any CO2 with your setup unless you get alot of plants or you want fast growth. I say go for it, anubias and java fern should do well I have both in my 55 along with some amazon swards, hornwart, dwarf hairgrass, and a few others from assorted pots that i havent gotten around to id yet. I just use regular t8 shop lights some tetra florapride every other water change.
