Planting Giant hairgrass vs. Planting dwarf hairgrass....how?

I always see the planting of dwarf hairgrass...take out pot..clean and seperate to promote carpet growth..but i plan on using giant hairgrass also towards the middle. When i see giant hairgrass people tend to keep it in the pot..so i was wondering..should i do that?..or plant it just like i would the dwarf version?

It depends,,, once hair grass gets rooted and starts sending runners it will grow like a weed..keeping it in a pot will be easier to keep it in one area
