Hi all anyone have any experience with live plants in a viv, I want to keep an arboreal species and I will have a very tall tank 120cm.

two things really, is it possible to have them out of the pot and actually planted?

and im looking for Ficus or something similar, any thing of that type that can deal with the humidity.

Pretty much all my enclosures have live plants so yes, it is possible to keep them with herps. You can plant stuff in the actual tank without it being in a pot but I find it to be sort of a pain. A plant can take over and compete for space with another if they're not in pots. It's also easier to remove a plant if it's in a pot. That way you can swap plants out with ease or remove them for maintenance. But I do have some fake backgrounds that have plants in them without pots. They're sort of contained though. I also have epiphytes that are attached to branches/fake walls with super glue. What type of creature are you thinking of keeping with them?

Plenty of stuff out there - I really like sheet moss and orchids, though orchids are for advanced viv designers.

You can also try hedera (a type of ivy), Ficus pimilus, sheet moss, and Schefflera

I have a buddy with a viv setup that he breeds dart frogs in, it's got rare orchids and venus fly traps that are long term sustainable and is flat out AWESOME. The venus fly traps - while an advanced hobbyist plant - work perfectly in dart frog tanks due to the wingless fruit fly food source. :)

If you want to do them without pots, use hydroballs and screen mesh - a layer of sheet moss makes a good foundation for plants to root through. But it's an advanced technique and requires a lot more attention to growth than using pots.

I want to keep aisian long tails, i read somewhere that they spend a lot of time in tall grasses and bamboos, so i would like something along tose lines across the bottem.

I keep a female asian longtail lizard with prospects of a male and another female;) you wont regret they are very easy to keep, have a endless apetite and are plain simple very fun to wach. As plants go I dont recomend Ficus benjamina as Ive found it pretty unforgiving of basking ligths, the easiest plants are Sanseveria trifasciata, Ficus pumila, Dracaenas sp, Cordyline sp and a few others. Make shure you bring your plants from a quemical free sorce or if you like brough them at a supermarket, give them a 2 mouth outdoor stay for them to shed any bad stuff they maybeen in contact with.

I suppose I should have asked what you were keeping first, hehe. Having a basking light requirement gets rid of a lot of options. :)
Hedera, Sheffhedera and Ficus pumila will do fine on a vivarium with basking ligths specialy if they are putted down on a very tall one;)
