So im setting up a 40 gallon right now. I have crushed coral and some driftwood in there. I was wondering is it ok to add plants with crushed coral? Or is plants only good for a specific substrate? If its ok with the crushed coral, do you think geophagus would be ok in a planted tank? Lmk thanks

i'm no expert but i think crushed coral will have the effect of raising both ph and carbonate hardness of the water, this may be a good thing depending what you want to keep.

crushed coral is an absolute no no for geo's as they are constantly sifting the substrate and would damage there mouths. i would recommend the use of kids playpit sand for geo's.
