Will epsom salts kill plants as regular salt does?? Im treating for bloat right now with praziquantrel and epsom salts and I removed my swords just in case. I was just wondering because epsom salts have no salty taste whatsoever.....

"Regular" salt is sodium chloride. I have had no trouble with salt in my planted tanks. It is safe at the "normal" dose of 2 tablespoons/10 gal. The plants in my quarantine tank (mainly Hydrocotyle leucocephala) are even fine at 7 tablespoons/10 gal, which you also use to treat diseases. Thus, I am not sure what sensitive species you keep that may get killed. Please elaborate.

Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. Different salt altogether. It is fairly safe with plants at low concentrations. 0.1 g/L and you kill your filter bacteria. 0.2 grams/liter can slowly harm plants. 2 g/L may kill sensitive species and will eradicate invertebrae. Much higher than 10 g/L and you run into fish toxicity anyways.

At what concentrations do you treat?
