Has anyone personally ever done this before? I have done a planted tank before with t5ho's, co2 injection, the whole nine yards, just not with pikes. I still have all the co2 equipment so i will just need to get the lights again to get rolling. also posting in the plant section about planting in sand so if you know about plants please see that thread also. thanks in advance for any help!

right now i have several dwarf pikes in a planted tank and its working great. im running a pretty low tech setup with no co2.

i think it will work fine but i would suggest some of the beefier and bigger plants. i tried planting some smaller plants and they just ended up all over the place. when the big fish get spooked and start darting its tends to stir everything up. especially whne uve just planted stuff and it hasnt really rooted yet.

my dwarf crenicichla regani are kept with some medium lighting plants , sturbai corys, and smaller emerald cories. The cories do more damage to keeping plants than my dwarfs. I had 24 emerald, now about 15. When I don't feed for a day or 2 occasionally the biggest will eat one of the emeralds.

All four dwarf species I've kept did fine with plants, can't speak for larger pikes though.
