I got some anacharis plants in my tank and I just bought 2 M. ramirezi with some torn fins. I was thinking of adding some salt to the tank to help the fins heal but I dunno if the plants will be ok with the salt. I usually add 1 tbs of regular NaCl salt per 5 gal of water in those cases so it's not much. Anyone tried this before?

A few torn fins will heal normally with clean water. Just do a higher % water change or more water changes. Also most freshwater plants can handle the amount of salt that a freshwater fish can. I think at about 1.003 salinity plants start to go south.

ok good, i did a 50% wc just now. Didn't add any salt yet I was waiting for any thoughts about this. The reason I'm thinking of adding salt is also for desinfection of the fins, since u never know what kind of water they were in at the LFS. Wouldn't want it to turn into rotting or smth else. Thnx Jesse

Your anacharis should be fine at that salt level, but as mentioned as long as the fish are acting normally and have a good appetite, you can stick with frequent water changes and monitoring the fish.

The fish act normal as far as I can tell, still a bit shy but thats normal. they're getting acclimated to the new tank pretty well I would say, they'r coloring up too but still not eating as well as I would like them to. The thing that worries me though is that the the tail where the fins are ripped have some dark gray coloration instead of the clear see through color you usualy see with new fin growth. I've got them 3 days ago.
