Hello,

I have a 24"x12"x15" aquarum containing two 4 inch goldfish. In the past I have tried pond weed but it grew rampantly the goldfish eventually destoryed it. I have recently tried java fearn and anubias. They grew well but eventually died as the aquarium is in a conservatory and got too cold in the winter.

The tank is filtered by a fluval 3 turned down to the lowest setting and 1 standard bulb and a reflector in the hood. Liquid plant food was added every 2 weeks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

does the tank get a lot of light from the sun in the conservatory ?

i was meaning more to help the plants but if it gets to cold you should be good with most plants that you can get for ponds just keep them trimmed back ;)check local garden centres they should have a pond section

Yeah I'd go with Elodea (Anacharis) as well. They are very hardy, fast growing plants that don't need to be rooted to survive.

elodea/anacharis is goldfish food!! your goldfish will strip it down in no time.

Hornwort and cabomba may work a little better as they have needles instead of leaves and might not be as appealing to goldfish.

Hornwort actually needs cooler water to survive, so it would be ideal in this situation

watermilfoil, hornwort, widgeon grass, willow moss
