Plants For Kribs/Jewels?

Hi, I'm just setting up a new Krib/Jewel Cichlid tank and am wondering what plants would be good in a tank like this? also what would be the best substrate for this kind of tank.

those fish are not picky about substrate, I like how sand looks, since it also makes it easier for the kribs to make their "dens"

What plants did you use?

I used vallis, anubias and crypts. The like to lie under anubius leaves and swim through the vallis and crypt leaves.
