I've got a 55 gallon tank with:

(10)2-3inch clown loaches
(2) 3 inch royal plecos
black sand substrate
penguin 350
AC70
marineland powerhead

I wanted to put some sort of plant(s) in the tank just to add to the decor and i prefer live plants but not sure if my plecos and loaches iwll allow plants. I did have some sort of plant on a piece of driftwood, but within a week the leaves were gone. Any recommendations? And any care tips?

Thanks

Don't know about pleco, but with loaches it's about mood, boredom and personality more than about food/feeding. Give 'em some current & hiding spots and make sure the plants aren't too "leafy" and are or can get well rooted and you should be OK.

Never had any success with plants in my tanks with clown loaches in them except for plants like Anacharis (Egeria densa) and green Cabomba (Cabomba carolina) , Myrio Filigree (Myriophyllum simulan), Ambulia (Limnophila indica), Myrio Green (Myrio pinnatum) type plants. Not sure which species they are between the Camboba, Myriophyllum, and Ambulia (my best guess is the green Camboba or green Myrio). You'll see them as they are pretty common in the LFS's around here. Anything with a broad leaf gets wrecked with my clowns...

Not sure if it was my clowns or maybe one of the plecos, but I put some anubias in my clown tank and it was decimated beyond recognition....

Your tank is too small for clown loaches. I suggest either upgrading soon to at least a 4x2x2 or finding a good home for the clowns.
