i want a few floating plants for my arowana tank any good ideas of what plants are good. i would like some with there roots hanging down.

water lettuce is best kept in ponds, it likes to be free floating with lots of light. Duckweed, on the other hand, barely needs any light at all.

Water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) hate condensation forming on their leaves and will rot. With an arowana, your tank is enclosed I suppose? If so, that plant is out of the question. Try Nymphaea lotus. The bulb has to be partially buried. These are undemanding though and you may need to cut the leaves that reach the surface regularly to allow the younger leaves to grow.

Water sprite, aka Indian fern. Ceratopteris thalictroides. Grows quickly and the roots will hang down 3 or 4 inches.
