Well I have decided I want some plants I'm my tank I finally moved my crayfish and the apple snail out so I can add some green. The tank is a 20h with 2 daylight cfls and I can open a curtain to let in natural light also I am not looking for anything in particular but I do want a carpet of grass and any other suggestions would be cool. Here's a pic of my tank for ideas.

I'm pretty sure he will tear up anything you put in there. Just to test this I would get some fake plants and just see what happens with that. If if works try out some java fern as it is very hardy and a great looking plant! If you have java fern and need more plants try out anachris maybe? That might work! If not look for kyoto I got some for $10 and it is a really amazing looking plant! Here are pics of the kyoto

You can barely see it but its the grass like plant on the left of the rock caves. I'll post some closer pics of it

There it is under the jack dempsey
Just try these out as they are extremely nice looking plants and low maintenence

Maybe try a floating plant like hornworth just for some cover. You can always plant that too if you want. Amazon swords well also work well with a bass that size as he shouldnt be able to break the stems yet, I could be wrong on that though. I only keep a few live plants in my tanks to help with filtration.

Also I hope you upgrade your tank soon as within a year he will outgrow that tank easily! Lmb get huge!

Yes I am upgrading to a 75g next month and a plywood before the end of the year but for now you can see how small he is in the tank so I think he will be fine for a few more weeks

Okay sounds good! Good luck! Just try the plants I said and see what happens

Your bass shouldn't uproot any of the plants I have 2 of them twice the size of yours and they have maybe uprooted one but that was because the smallmouth was trying to fight the largemouth.

Smallmouth won that battle, but they go back and forth.
