Im looking for some plants I could put in sand, I have a 50 gallon tank currently and am thinking of a beardie. Yes, I know they need a bigger tank and 100% I will get an upgrade when the time comes. Im turning 16 in like 2 weeks so a job,car and maybe even a apartment is in the near future. So I might wait for my own place to upgrade him. But in the mean time i'd like to do a rocky/sandy terrarium for my little guy. I plan on feeding a mix of crickets and mealworms and of course fruits and veggies. But, would soil or sand be the best? and what kind of plants would be good for my little guy. i'll add pics of the one I like in a few minutes as im in school. Thanks!

Thinking maybe a rattlesnake plant and maybe air ferns. I love the rattlesnake plants on how it goes up and down. lol

I would personally do the air ferns so all they need is misting now and then. Any plant buried in the sand will need to be watered and that could make maintenance difficult.

I have no problem watering them. I enjoy plants and am kind of getting addicted lol.

how about an aloe vera? I know they have those spikes, but are they that bad? They can eat them as well but can cause diarrhea it says. Also here is the little guy I have my eyes on. He has half his tail and is 50% off.22AD06EC-A7C7-4913-BA06-17AA195C5392.jpeg

Stapeliads do well in my sandy soil. I have never done them in pure sand, but I would think if they get the water they need they will be ok. Otherwise you can keep them in pots and bury the pot in the sand. They are some of my favorite plants right now.

I have all three of these but they are not my photos
