im going to pick up some water lettuce and a few other plants quickly tomorrow morning from my LFS before i go to collect my SH. I've seen them and they are really small - like 6" so im placing them in one of my q tanks until they reach a suitable size for my 110gal tank. If i put them in now, I would never see them lol they look so small. Anyway I thought this would be a good time to grow out lots of plant covering for my other tanks whilst they have time to grow out my other tank.

What I wanted to ask is the LFS I can get these plants from have a lot of sick fish in their tanks...I have never bought fish from them but I always see dead fish etc in their tanks and a lot of sick fish being sold. I want to buy plants there as they have really nice stuff.

If i buy plants and put them in my established tanks to grow will it transfer any sort of infection/bacteria to my tanks? If there is a chance of the plants carrying something I wont buy it. I'll just wait and order some online. Never bothered with live plants before so I have no idea.

i have a few hospital tanks. how could i "disinfect" them?

Bump! I want to know too. :D

neer what sort of plant's are you after, my mate own's a lfs here and he post's plant's to order, very clean tank's...he has a weir effect tank which are only for plant's...so the worst you will get is pest snail's......
I f i was you i would just throw them straight into the end tank but hey that's me,hehe....
disinfect them/iam also intrested in how?me being a newbie to plant's also

yeah im waiting for the disinfecting answer too haha hopefully he will come back and tell all of us :D

thanks for that nelly :) i've just asked my friend to give me some of hers as it would take too long to wait for it by post. dont want to stress the SH out by making them wait for long.

no problem, think it's next day delivery ,he has a website but it's being maintained..

if you are that concerned about parasites, quarantine the plants in a bucket for a couple of days with a few table spoons of aquarium salt. This will kill off any parasites. Then just be sure to rinse off the remaining salt off the plants
