well i have 2 RBP's that measure 5 and 6 inches each and are i would say whimpy (maybe due to surroundings) but i just brought them home from college in their tank and this puppy is now empty. Me and my roomate finally split so i can spend some money on it without having to go through him. And the first thing i did was rip out the old fake plants for various reasons and my p's slowed down on eating. This could be due to a 2 hour trip, new tank placement, noises and lack of green in the tank... take your pick im sure it's a big change for them and eating will come back. I'm looking into buying plants for the tank but i'm kinda worried if i keep playing around with the tank they'll never adjust to it so i need some opinions on a few things. 1- should i wait before redoing the tank or since their not settled do it now before i have to screw them up again? 2- how should my tank be set up? half planted half bare or just a full planted end to end. 3- I was hoping to get some feedback on good plants to use. I'm not even sure how many gallons the tank is :nilly: id have to say around 50 it's not mine and like i said i just got it(no excuse).. i'll ask for futur refrence lol and im using basic wal mart epoxy aquarium gravel.. i know we were cheap poor rbp's.

you can go ahead and rearrange your tank now, it shouldn't make a difference. as far as planting goes, it's really gonna be up to you and what you want your tank to look like, if you want it heavily planted, it can be a bit more work, but imo, it's worth the extra effort. the only thing that will really limit your choices in plants will be your lighting, but there are plenty of low light plants to choose from if you just have the light that came with your aquarium.

if you look around and find some pictures of tanks that you like and post them or pm them to me, i can suggest plants that will do well in your tank and help you get your tank to look similar.

you'll find plants keep water quality in better condition longer, try plants such as anubias and java ferns they do very well in low level light and are very thick leaved and hardy so they can with stand some blows from pirahnas. the only disadvantage is that they are really slow growing. As for rearranging some people suggest every so often you should re-arrange the decoration of a tank, but IMO it would be better to do it all in a short period of time and get it over with then constantly disturbing them over a longer period

well both of you's gave me the pretty same answers.. thatnks alot i'm out to do some shopping tomorrow so i'll see what ican find and i might update a pic if i get around to it..
