Is there any way to speed up the recovery of my big Amazon Sword? He had some bites taken out of him & grew some algae. Algae is gone, but plant doesn't look good...

I think that laying off the liquid ferts sounds appropriate. What kind of algae bloom? Are you thinking it was caused by something in your water and that is why you are laying off wc's? What is your lighting and tank size? How long have you had the plant?

I've had the plant maybe 6 months. Its in my 20g under a Coralife twin-T5 fixture (36w total). I accidentally left the lights on overnight & all the plants got a thin sheet of algae on them. All recovered except the big one. It appears that one of my Loaches thought he looked tasty all covered in algae like that & turned the leaves into swiss cheese. The algae is all gone, but some of the leaves are already clear & dead, so I'm trying to nurse the rest of the leaves back as much as possible.

I was holding off on the next WC so I didn't mess up the o2/co2 levels & give the algae a chance to grow back. I dont run a co2 system & I read that algae react quicker than the plants... Is that true?
