Plants that don't need aquarium soil

Hello, I am looking to put some plants in my 72 gallon but I know that to start a planted tank you would need a good lighting system (which I have) co2 system and soil but I don't exactly want to start a planted tank I just want some plants in there that can live without soil or co2. I have a 72 gallon aquarium with a 260 watt lighting system with a sand substrate. My question is what plants can be in a my tank with the high lighting system?

I have amazon sword plantz in my tank wigh 1/4" peastone gravel and they have been growing and doing great for almost a year now, theve rooted right under the rocks.
 
Are plants that you find in your local streams and rivers alright to plant in our tank?

Personally I wouldnt as who knows what kinds of little bugs or critters could be on the plants. If anything id have a seperate qt tank just for the plants you pick yourself out of the wild.
 
I use local plants occasionally, but I quarentine just like I would with fish, I also medicate to eliminate bugs/bacteria/parasites. I love rotala species and they seem to grow well in most conditions. I actually have some with my axolotls without co2 or even a light. They are planted in regular, compact sand. Tough plants

Correct me if im wrong, but I have heard hairgrass doesnt grow well in gravel since they have shallow roots and fine leaves? hard for them to grow around gravel?
