Hello i've got a 56 gallon (unheated) tank with various peices of drift wood, i would like to get plants on the wood but im not sure what types would root to it. The plant stores around here have very little selection of plants therefor i have to order some through them. i currently have moss on the driftwood but i would love to have a leafy type plant and some grassy type on the wood. any suggestions or previous types you have rooted that seem quite nice?

Java ferns attach themselves to wood quickly. I took a rhizome, and stuck it through a hole in a piece of grapevine, and now the rhizome is completely "clamped" to the surrounding hole. Different type mosses also.

Anubias readily attach to wood (and stones) as well. I have some moss that attached to my gravel (annoying.)

I plant all of my substrate plants in dirt, covered with a layer of pea gravel.

I'm no plant expert, but I have bunch of java ferns and anubias glued to rocks. I used AC (super glue). It works great and does not harm the plant or the fish...or the rock!
