sure can, I'd recommend Anubias sp., and most of the moss species

Sure. Java fern, anubias, and mosses are the most common plants that grown on surfaces rather than in the substrate. The background will need some texture though; glossy plastic might not be suitable.

Try a tiny bit of 100% Cyanoacrylate glue (superglue, check label to make sure there are no other additives).

Poke a tiny hole in background, us a thin wire or fishing string.
