Ok i have a 40 gal breeder with plants, my questions for some reason i can not keep the plants to stay in the sand . I do have cichlids in the tank with the plants , but they do not dig the plants up, but if they chase each other they stir the plants up, my question is how to keep the plants still and in one place , do i have to add more sand to the tank or something

Sounds like you need more sand or plant them deeper. The cichlids shouldn't be able to stir them up so easily. Unless of course they are monsters! In which case I would think more sand would still work.

what cichlids? they might just be small. Once they start getting bigger, they will tear the plants to shreds. Very few cichlid species don't hate plants

Pike cichlids like plants....

will cichlids mess up plants if they are planted on driftwood? or in the cracks of rocks?

That will help. I have a few baseball or fist size round rocks that I stack around problem plants.

Also for the OP, in your avatar is a pic of a Butterkoferi. If that's what you have in with plants you're screwed....
