A new aquarium I am building will have geophagus, plecos, cories and angels. Tank will be 36" tall with LED lighting and pool filter sand substrate. Driftwood and rocks will be primary decorations. What kind of plants could I try? I plan to anchor some java fern and anubias to the driftwood. But given that the geophagus are diggers, is there anything else you would recommend that would do OK in sand? And any methods to keep it buried, etc. Thanks for any input.

only thing u can try are plants with heavy roots like swords. otherwise ur geo's gonna dig them up and ur gonna get annoyed having to replant all the time. or floating plants is an idea. i personally hate it when geo's dig holes and make mountains from the sand. makes the tank ugly with the uneven substrates

Tie your plants on a rock then plant it, they love to dig but not entire tank so take note his favorite digging spot and don't plant anything near there. Also, put some large rock around the plant base that station on the sand to keep your fish not digging into it.
