Will they grow the roots back? I received some plants 2 hrs ago, some of them were too big to put in my 10g, so I snipped parts of them off. Will the roots grow back? The plants are at least 6", tho I don't know what the plants are(pmed the seller)

Thanks

Most plants will grow the roots back, but there are exceptions. As far as IDing the plant, just post a picture. You could also refer to Tropica's website for aquarium plants.

I'll post the pic once I get home tomorrow, seller pmed me and told me what the stuff was but good to make sure I know which plant is which :D

Extra questions(so I don't start a new thread)
-If I have a DIY c02 injector with yeast, will the c02 lower oxygen levels in the tank for the fish? It's going to have neon tetras and guppies(fry will go in a different tank), possibly ghost shrimp/rcs
-My bulbs are only 3500k, will it have a big impact on my plants? People here recommended 6700k but I already purchased the bulbs. The seller pmed me back and said there were needleleaf java ferns, one pennywort, lots of sunset hygros and hygro ceylon w/possibly other hygros, a bit of taiwan moss, and there are a few small stems of some unIDED plant It's a 28 watt 10g tank with c02(mentioned above) and will almost definitely have flourish in a few days

one more lol
-Are water changing schedules for planted tanks the same as non planted tanks, or can u do it less b/c of the live plants
Thanks :D

No, C02 will not replace oxygen. They are two separate molecules. Only in extreme situations, where a large amount of c02 is actually forcing the oxygen out of the water will the oxygen in the water be depleted to an unsafe level.

The Java Fern will be fine with those bulbs. It's a very undemanding plant when it comes to light. However, the pennywort, and the hygros require light in the spectrum between 6700k and 10,000k and more intense. They are going to have a difficult time growing with the lights you currently have. If you have the type of hood I'm guessing you do (the standard black hood for a ten gallon tank), then you can easily purchase two compact fluorescent bulbs from your local walmart or home depot in the correct spectrum. They may be advertised as "daylight" bulbs. They will work fine in your hood.

The plants can help keep your water parameters at a safe level, however weekly water changes are always recommended to remove contaminants that the plants cannot.

If you have any more questions, feel free to post! Hope this helps! :D

Did you cut the roots off the java fern (technically they're rhizomes or something like that), or the part where all the leaves sprout from? The leaves themselves aren't going to grow new rhizomes, but the base of the plant will probably sprout new leaves even if you cut them off.

I saw daylight bulbs at homedepot last time, was going to get them but I assumed daylight would be yellow :(

Nope I just cut off some of the roots from the hygros(dunno which kind) since they were too big

I just went to my lfs and they had flourish excel, iron, potassium and i think nitrogen, which one should i get? they didn't have plain flourish :(

guna take pics now
