are there any good plants that grow in rift lakes?? cause all the rift lake setups i see are all rocky with algae?? i popped in some Marimo Moss Balls in my tank and they keep on being picked at by the fish... they really like to eat them up.... if any plants are good please do share!! and will they withstand hard water??

java moss I hear works... I am trying it out my self... not great results but after my fish learned to leave it alone (because it tastes bad) it is starting to do better...

I have found that Vallisneria does quite well with Malawi mbuna. They will pull it out and chew it to bits but it is quite hardy. Plant quite a bit and also do a re-arrrangment of rocks. Helps to take the focus off the plants. My Metriaclima greshakei does most of the pulling out of plants as he believes, seeing that he is the longest living mbuna, that he can do what he likes.:naughty:  :headbang2 :nilly:
