:popcorn:Has anyone used the banding they use for pallets?, comes in plastic 400 lb test and metal bands, I was thinking of using 2 plastic bands, equals 800 lbs test around the top and bottom frame parts on a 300 gal all glass tank for extra support insurance.

By the time you got the metal bands tight enough to do any good I would worry about them breaking the glass or bowing the tank inward causing stress on the corners. If you use the banding tool you are looking at a high stress point where the tool is in contact with the tank that could crack it as well.

Whats needed as a support for glass tanks is a frame that restrains outward movement and not one that adds pressure the way banding would do.

I used S.S. cables and turnbuckles.

Like FishDog said,, I couldn't get the strapping tool close enough to to hold pressure. You just want it snug, so if you wanted to experiment enough, you could measure the top of the tank and make bands till you got one that force fit over the glass like the plastic top rails do.
