Plastic Canvas Sheets for Bio Media

I bought some of these plastic canvas sheets at walmart to cover my tank better, and started thinking how it might be a good media to use.

I am thinking of cutting some pieces to size and making inserts to put in my HOBs for extra surface area. If placed after the cartridges I have, they would act as good bio media i'd imagine. Even if I have to take a knife and scratch them up a bit...

Anyone see anything wrong with this?

hmm. they look pretty thin, you would be better to add more foam inserts I think.

They come in packages of about 5 sheets I think... My idea is to cut all five at the same time into one insert, and slightly offset the holes. I can even double up if necessary.
