I was just at Michaels and noticed they had a decent selection of plastic plants cheap. Anyone tried using these in the tank? is it safe? Do they leach anything? I want to put some fake plants in with my silver dollar school.

if its just plastic i would wash off first but will be fine in your tank. if you are really worried then buy one leave it in a bucket of water make sure it dosent fade and even take a water sample and test it.

Same as said above, iv used fake plants in my aquariums with no issues, I soak them in a bucket overnight just to wash them off and such.

If your buying from michaels make sure you use the 40% off coupons the give out like candy.

thanks for all the input. I will pick some up
What are pfs?

thanks
so how are you guys anchoring the plants?

Take a small dixie cup and put the stems of the plants in there. Put gravel into the cup. Straighten the plants out and then add silicone to cover the gravel. Once it cures cut the dixie cup away and your new fake plant is made. It worked well for me but I only did it a few times.
