i was wondering if i used fake plants to set on top of the water for the natural habitat kind of setup would that look completely dumb or would it look decent. does anyone do that now? i know most people use live plants but i have never really had experience growing live plants and i have oscars that love to tear up everything they see so thats kind of out of the question. :WHOA:

I use plastic plants. I like the good quality ones that look somewhat real and not fake. I have some floating on top also. It makes a nice natural look.

i really want to get some leafy looking ones to put on top, i think that would look more natural than the plastic scrubby looking things, dont really know how to describe it but hopefully you understand what i mean.

I just added one of the Aquarium Systems Giant Bamboo to my tank and am pretty impressed with the way it looks. This is a plant that is designed to go in the gravel and because it is so large has floating stems and leaves at the surface. I believe they say you can just remove the base if you want to make it just a floater. They also make a floating philodendron that looks pretty cool.

thats a cool plant! that is exactly what im looking for thanks!
