My 20 gallon tank has 6 zebra danios 2 platies and 3 ghost shrimp. The zebra danios are always getting the food before the platies can even get to it and I'm worried about them. I only got the platies yesterday and they are perfectly healthy and try to get to the food but the danios are faster. I am thinking I should get sinking foods for them because when they got even one flake they spit it out and didn't like it so I am thinking to get them sinking pellets. Is this a good idea? Or will the platies eventually get faster at getting food?

They are even trying to eat my heater and filter by constantly biting them. I just feel worried because they try to eat everything they find right now.

Are they eating the food they spit out? Most fish will suck in a flake and spit it out to eat the smaller particles; most of my Platies, Tetras, and Guppies do this. Sinking type foods would be a good idea. You could also spread the food out when you feed, put some on one side and some on the other, to insure everyones fed. I do this to make sure my loaches get some too. Also the "pecking" is normal. My platies do it even when they are well fed. They're just picking up algae.
