i just started my first planted tank and i got this grass that i forgot the name and my camera is not working. but my LFS said its good in low light, easy to take care of and grows decently fast. not sure if that helps id but i know most grasses are not low light so it may narrow it down. but my platies mowed it down really short im not sure if they eat it or just bit it off. but i was wondering will they grow back? and whats the best way to get them to stop eating them?
thanks.

I have also had problems with platys eating the glossostigma carpet in one of my tanks.. They completely destroyed the carpet leaving only a few strands here and there.. I do believe they eat the plants so i dont think theres a way to get them to stop.. Just use some larger leaved plants and everything should work out well..

Platys are onmnivores, and usually will just graze on algae on the plants, but may actually eat the plants if they find them palatable. Keep the well fed and they will leave the plants alone.

I would recommend some type of chain sword or dwarf sagg. or dwarf hair grass but chances are that you tried one of these already since your saying it was a type of grass.. as for keeping the platys well fed, they will graze no matter how well fed you keep them.. i keep my piranhas well fed but thats not going to keep them from ripping the fins off other fish i throw in there.. its just their nature..
