on saturday at my lfs i saw a 4-5" jar that was pure shiny white with regular eyes labeled as a reg. jardini for 59.99, are they always this color when young or is this a mistake by the lfs? I took two pics, but they're with a 1.3 mp pos camera so it looks like a regular one.

btw is it pronounced har-deenee or jar-deenee

That seems like a pretty good price either way...exceptional if it turns out to be an oddball. I think they are lighter as juvies, but it could be lighter in color due to substrate or background. I just picked up a few labeled as leichardti and I've been told they are jars...honestly I can't tell because I can't make out any red spots on scales, although I only count 5 scale rows...

Anyway, they are lighter in color as well. I'd be willing to bet that if it was platinum that you would know...it's going to be apparent.

it really looks platinum, im sure, i just feel like they wouldnt make a mistake like that, does anyone on here have any pics of plats for me to compare with?

It's probably a regular Jardini. Jardini's color is affected by its surrounding like background, base color of tank. Genes, lighting, and diet can affect the Jardini's color. Your LFS probably had a light colored tank.

ya my guess is , supplier would not miss out a chance on making BIG $$$ by not filtering through all the aros to look for plat oddballs. I remember seeing a either really light phase/ plat jar for like $8k in Hong Kong. it was pretty, but it wasn't totally white like you see those snow silver aros are...

the tank was blue background and regular river rock gravel, im gna try and go see it again soon

does anyone have pics of one?

Jardini come from Australia, not South America, so it's pronounced jardini, not hardini :grinno:

man i feel stupid right now, jardini sounds so weird tho now that i got used to saying it the other way

Show us the pix, please.

don't get your hopes high, in any case.

Did you pick it up or get some pics of it at least?
