What are platnum silver arowanas? I've actually seen two or three 3' versions of these and they are awsome. But what are they??? I never see them for sale in the fish store. I never see them wrote about in arowana publications. Are they a hybrid? Or are they as real as the silver and the black? Are there schools of platnums swimming the amazon? And finally, Can one buy a platnum? How much is it likely to cost?

platnium silvers dont exist

there is only snow

Then is what they refer too as platniums a snow? This was definetly a south american arowana (looks like a silver body) with a DEFINATE differance in color.

Here is a picture I found on the web that has a color like the 3+ foot platinums I seen in a Seattle fish store.

Whether it's called a 'platinum' or a 'snow', the occurrence is called Tyrosinase-Positive Albinism.

Is this albinism rare in Arowana?

It's definately rare. I don't think they've isolated the strain yet. Until they can get more than a few to get breeding, then they have to wait for generations of fish before they can isolate the strain.
