Hi, anyone who can help me with an id on this guy would be much appreciated. Sorry for the bad pic but it's decent enough to show colors and body shape. Originally I said this guy was about 1" but he's really probably more like 2" or so. Hopefully someone can help with an id. Sorry for the Ewurmy pics.. He wouldn't stop moving.

looks like a johanna, but you need a better pic of the tail because the dot on the fin could make it either a cincta or probadly a strigata. just a guess but peanutpower and taz will probadly clear it for you.

It's a dwarf pike, probabbly Crenicichla regani.

yup, regani or noto. Looks like a male, if he has elongated front dorsal spines it is C. notophthalmus.

On a second look, I can't even see the dorsal fin so if it has a spot/spots on it its a female, and if it lacks the dorsal ocelli its a male.

The tail fin has a "eye" on it... little yellow spots at the rear of the anal fin. Much like "egg spots" on african zebras. Anal/dorsel fin trimmed in red.

Sounds like a male regani/noto to me.

Possible it's c. urosema if it's a dwarf?

After looking at him out of the water no elongated front dorsel fins, and no dorsel spots or spot at all. So I'm guessing closest to an id would be c.regani right now

See, when you posted pictures of it in the photo lounge i knew it was a type of dwarf...just from the colors and the price. C. regani is probably your best bet. you said it was only 1" though...so its gotta way to grow still. Awesome pick up...but definately not a lent. like you thought it was when you bought it...haha.

Thought it was a juvi johanna, then evryone starts going off on this dwarf trip and loses me. Im doing my best at IDing full size pikes, Im like 1fer10, cant help you with a dwarf.

I underestimated. It's closer to 2" or so. yeah I kinda knew it wasn't a lent. But for 7.00 and not knowing what it is you kinda want to shoot yourself after you walk away and wonder what it was.. So that's why I bought it.

Thanks for the help everyone.
