My lfs has "common" rays for 59.99. I want to start keeping rays. Mty tank is a 150 with play sand. Do you think the play sand will be ok for a stingray? It feels really soft and smooth in the tank. Thank you in advance!

yea play sand should be fine. The fish guy at zoo creatures in plaistow recommended it as a cheap alternative when I asked him a little while ago. See what the others say though.

I think it would all depend on the how coarse the sand is. Stingrays are sensitive to their substrate aren't they?

They are very sensitive. I have to vacuum out all my sand bec. his undersides irritated. If its justa common 1, your better of w/ small pebbles.
