Fish Island
i just put play sand into my tank and i didnt rinse it becuase i was being a lazy bum. i have some questions
-are my fish going to be ok?
-should i turn my waterfall filter on?
-the filter seems to be making the sand rise or is that just the dirty stuff i didnt rinse.

MAN, you just fuged yourself. You will regret not washing it. It will be cloudy for some time. It is bad for the fish, and as a result your water will be littered with floating debre. SHOULD HAVE WASHED IT

hahahah dammm i knew i was goin to regret being so lazy... i learned my lesson timefor a water change.

How big is the tank? I would just drain out the water and rinse the sand out.

did you get sorted.
even if i have washed my sand it still ends up cloudy so as long as you change some water it should be ok

its no big deal just do water changes, it will clear up soon

:iagree:

I didn't wash my playsand either, the clay in the mix is great as plant substrate. There is also pre-washed playsand. Anyhow, after filling the tank with sand, I added 10'' water and removed it, repeated that until the water was pretty much clear (3-4 times). Since you just set it up, I assume you don't have fish in there, yet, which should make 100% water changes real easy.

Welcome to the playsand crowd
