i have a 75 gallon with clown loaches and angel fish.i hav 100 pound play sand in it and have big river rocks in it the river rocks turned black where they were in the sand. why is it doin that?

I've had rocks turn my play sand a grey color before, but never the sand turning my rocks any color.

Are the rocks black? I had the kind of rocks that flaked off or chipped off to an extent, and they were grey. So i think with the fish moving and the filters on the sand just rubbed small pieces of it off of the rock making it looked like it mysteriously turned the sand grey even though I believe it was just rock "dustings". It's nothing major, new rocks(different kind) would help, I just swished the sand around after each WC and didn't even worried about it.

When I first changed to sand, I found suggestions on "stirring" the sand every other week. I was told failure to do so would lead to gases developing in the sand. Black spots was one of the symptons.

I know use pool filter sand and have never noticed any black spots. I have also used CaribSea sand and play sand. I think pool filter sand is best, hands down.
