Does anyone have play sand in their ray tank? I'm just wondering if it would be ok to use. Thanks.

As long as its silica free. Just remember the cheap stuff will take alot of washing.

I know it has to be silica free, but I never have found on any bag of sand that will tell if it is...I also have heard that all sand has silica in it, but was not sure if it came from a credible source. The play sand I saw was a light white color and I think it would look neat in a tank, and it can not be any harder to wash then the crap I have in my 75 gallon that is red flint sand...

I have playsand in my tank. I use quickcrete playsand in all of my tanks and have it in my ray tank. It is silica free too, but a pain in the ass to wash but for a 50lb bag for $2 it is well worth the wash.

I'd vote for Pool Filter Sand.

A bit more expensive, but if you value your time it's worth it since you shouldn't have to wash it as much.
