please can any one help my giant gourami 24inch keeps laying down but when he sees me he swims as normal water is fine any ideas?

I had an Oscar that would play dead when there were people around (including myself) or when the lights were on. Once I turned off the light, he was normal. It REALLY annoyed me.

How long have you had the fish?I had a gourami that would do this too. Only he was half paralized (probably from a fish stroke). He could only bend in one direction and swimming in a straight line was impossible. I expected him to pass soon after the onset of his symptoms but he lasted about a week and a half. I moved him to my hospital tank so he would have a smooth bottom to lay on...and so he would not pass anything to the other fish.
