Getting a full grown angelfish and putting him in a tall 20 gallon tank. Wondering what fish would best suit him.... Something he won't be likely to eat.

Barbs will nip at the angel's fins. Get small bottom dwellers. Maybe 2 corydoras. But a slightly larger tank is a good idea. Even just a 30. Then you could be another angel.

By fully grown, how big do you mean? From the adult angels I've seen I definitely wouldn't want to squeeze one into a 20g! If you can get your hands on a bit of a bigger tank you'd have more options. Maybe even a small school of rummynoses or similar? Once adult size they'd probably be able to evade the angel/s.
I would keep Angels in something larger
I had 2 in community of large fish in a 75, but now I only have one due to an ick outbreak and the fact that I can't find more large angels
If anything, I say get a 55 and add like 5 more angels, just cause I find that angels look best in loose groups, mainly just due to their body shape and all

Yeah...20 gallon is pushing it, I'd maybe keep a pair of angels and nothing more in a 20 gallon. Otherwise, large tetras are always nice with these guys.
