Playsand for tank

How do I go on washing 50 lbs of play sand and how long does it take? Wash it with water in a 5 lb. bucket? What's the EASIEST way to wash play sand effectively, mess-free, and in a short period of time? I have over five 50 lbs for a 250 gallon arowana tank. Any advice?

I used a 5gal bucket and a water hose. I agitated the sand with my hand and the hose until the water ran clear, then d umped the bucket into the tank.

It took me around 5 minutes per bucket, and it took me 2 buckets to do 50 lbs.

i never washed mine, it said it was pre-washed by quikrite, and it was actually true, my tank never clouded up.
But if you didn't get that brand then do as you were told above.

I dumped my big bag of Quikrete Sand from Lowes right in the tank. It did cloud of slightly for about an hour but was clear as can be shortly after.

i have a 55, just put some caribsea sand and crushed coral mix in the tank filled it half way then drain the water and all the sand dust will be gone its fast and easy just dont eempty the water into 5 gallon buckets run a house outside this way theres no running around with a 5 gallon bucket

scrap your play sand and buy some black tahitian moon sand

I might get some Pool filter sand as I heard it's way easier to clean; thanks for all the responses though guys. You folks can input more if you wish

i got some play sand in my tank but imma gonna take it out when i do water change.
it takes away my fish color so im going bare bottom with black bottom.
