As a newbie to marine tanks, which is best? upon recommendation I put pool filter sand in my freshwater tank some time ago and I've been very happy with it. I've heard though that it's not fine enough for marine tanks so go with playsand. Others though have warned against playsand due to anti-bacterial chemicals in it as well as it being hard to clean. What is the recommendation from experienced marine tank aquarists here?

neither.... go with live sand or crushed coral or Aragonite Sand you can mix the live aragonite sand with the dry aragonite sand and over time it will all become live sand but it takes a while
