I heard you have to rinse the hell out of it. Go to your local pool supply store for sand. I get 50lb bags for $4.95+tax and after 5 minutes of rinsing they are beautiful and ray safe!
don't use just anyplay sand, most of the stuff out there is really messy and will clould ur water
