thinking of getting a blue diamond rhom,I've never kept pirahnas but have always been interested! I keep mostly pbass in a 180.I have a 125 I would like to set up for a blue diamond, wondering if these are generally hardy fish or are more diff than the others? also if ther is a good source to get these pirahna from and if I can keep more than one in this size of tank.any info would be greatly appreciated. thank Jeff

Any Rhom has to be kept solo. jp80911 stops into the store aquascapeonline.com sometimes and brings back pics. Perhaps he might know about their current stock but you can check out their website

If you can handle Pbass you should be able to handle a rhom.

most serra species needs to be kept solo including rhom, unless you have that much cash to burn then you can "try" to put more in.
don't believe aquascape has any big ones in now, only very small ones at 3"-4" but at that size it's very hard to ID it rather it is really a blue diamond or not. (not that I don't trust pedro but just it's just hard in reality)
personally I wouldn't get anything smaller than 6" especially you just start to get into piranha. if you have the money best is to get one at 10" plus as they grow slow and not as entertain as pbass so if you start with a small on you might get bored quickly.
here's an old video of my blue diamond

and some pix. it's 8" thinking about selling it so if you are interested pm me.

thanks for the info,if kept solo should I use a smaller tank or do these get big enough to justify a 125 for just one fish?

really depends at what size you get it at.
they grow fast up to 7-8" or so in the first year then slow down. maybe 1-2" a year if under proper care and excellent water condition.

if just buy itself it can be a bit boring. you can do some aquascaping and add bunch small fish to keep the tank active.

my blue diamond is a pit bull he follows me when i go near his 125 hes about a foot long and as beautiful as they come, you would think a fish alone in a 125 wouldnt be active but he really does entertain. call pedro 908 634 0820 and ask kathy if pedro can special order you a large blue. it will be expensive but worth every cent... my favorite of all my fish hands down
