Hey everybody,

Last time I posted a thread on cats was a few months ago asking about a food diet. Now she is about 8 months old and very energetic. Should will be getting her last shot soon (in a week)...and spade in like a month. Well my real question is, how do I keep her within the perimeter of my property. Any good in ground fences? I'm worried about her running outside and not coming back or getting hit by a car...since I live on morris park.

Thanks A Million

I haven't found a way to keep my kitties home. I no longer let the youngsters out because I've had teenagers throw rocks at them and a few weirdos try to take them home. With my one eyed black I take her out and supervise, let her explorefor 20-30 minutes than take her back in. I don't know of anything unless you want to build a cool pen outdoors for your cat, those can be pretty cool.

personally i wouldnt let a cat outside but why not some sort of chicken coop area like have the top even covered but have some plants in there or whatever to make the cat feel like the jungle

Those aren't bad ideas...I was just asking because we gotta be careful to not open any doors while they cat is out and about. This can be difficult to keep up for the next 8-12 years lol.

The coop idea isn't to bad of an idea..

My cat walks on a leash. I don't let him roam free outside because he looks like a bobcat and might get shot. He is a Jungle Bob. Mother was half African Jungle cat and Father was half Bobcat. He is 25lbs and solid muscle. He loves to climb trees when I take him out on the leash. He spends most of his time inside watching my fish or harassing my Great Dane.

As for keeping it from getting out, you can either train it to stay away from the door or get one of the proximity systems that are designed to keep cats away from certain areas of the house. You put a transmitter near the door and a collar on the cat. If the cat gets too close to the transmitter then the collar works like one of those underground fence things. That will eventually train the cat to stay away from the door and you will be able to take the collar off. I find that a squirt bottle full of water works just as well but you have to pay attention to the cat.

^can u post pics of ur cat?

You could always try a leash and harness, but if he's very tiny right now it might be diffiult finding one the he won't slip out of . My friend uses this method and then hooks them up to a laundry line. Another friend turned a child play set (wooden) into a cat house by inclosing it with screening (like for a screen door). I like this idea better because noone can harrass the cats when you're not looking and other animals can't get to them either.
