"please close this thread" reply

specifically in the Classifieds, do mods really close threads that have a reply of "Sold, please close thread"... or is it mainly to defer interested buyers from bugging the seller?

yes. We do close these threads upon OP request. However, if the request is in the form of a post within the thread, we may not see it for a while. Usually, the OP sends the request in the form of a reported post.

Buy and Sell threads are also automatically closed after a certain number of inactive days.
