i would like my piranha eat the raw food. i had read in this web, they had talk about the Garlic method make the fish accept the dead food. i do not know exactly about Garlic method. How do i do this techinique? I guess i have to soak the food with the garlic and feed my fish, is it correct? Thanks

Kent makes a product called Garlic Xtreme that works well as a food attractant. I've used it to get fish to eat with a fair amount of success over the last few years. It is very concentrated, so I would soak the food in just a few drops of Garlic Xtreme for about 15 minutes and then offer it to the fish. That said, have you actually tried feeding the piranha non live yet? If so, what have you tried? By nature piranhas are scavengers and should readily eat frozen thawed silversides and mice. This would be healthier, as live foods such as goldfish can carry parasites and bacteria. It would be much cheaper as well. Good Luck!

Silversides are okay, but you may have better luck with small pieces (bite-sized chunks) of tilapia fillet, or other raw fish fillet. Stay away from mice! Not sure who thinks mice are good food, but it is not good for piranha. Generally, stay away from mammalian meat, and only consider it as a rare snack.

Thanks myfriends. I stay in Southeast Asia. i can not by the Garlic Xtreme or Garlic Guard that you recommended. Is it the same thing, if i use the fresh garlic( it is easy to find them in southeast asia) instead of the garlic solution to mix a small piece of prawn to feed my rhombeus? i had try everyday for three days but he did not interest the prawn. Do you have any trick to help me? How long the time does the piranha live without the food ? i mean, when should i stop this attempt ? Thanks

I've never had an issue feeding piranha thawed dead foods. My piranhas devour any type of meat given to them. I even have them accepting cichlid pellets as well.

Are your piranha new to you? I mean are they settled in their tank?

it could take a lot longer for a serra to completely settle in, sometimes months sometimes even longer. just starve it for a week or so then drop the food you want it to eat in the tank for 15 minutes, if it doesn't it eat, take it out and try again next day or few days later. eventually it will start eating. sometimes it won't it eat when you are in front of the tank at first so you need to give it time.

Thank you. By your idea, if he does not accept the raw food, Should i feed him for lived food just only supplement or starve him only ?
