I have a 90 gal bowfront that developed a small leak. I think its on the bottom seam. I just started to notice water dripping from the front bottom of the tank. I transferred all the fish into other tanks. But, I need to fix this asap or buy a new tank. Ive heard of resealing the tank. Does this work well? I don't want to have this problem in another 2-3 years. If it does work whats the best stuff to use. Or should I just buy a new tank? Ive never had a tank start to leak like this ever. But I did buy this tank used? Ive had it up and running for over a year with no problems. The tank is drained, I'm just trying to decide what to do. Any suggestions???

resealing tanks is pretty easy and cheap, it will probably cost $15-25 to reseal it.

ive never experienced long term studies on resealed tanks, ive got one up and running thats been up for 3 months with NO problems, i make my seals larger than factory so i dont have to worry about them.

you just need some acitone, long razorblades, and patience.

resealing depending on technique can be seriously dangerous. u can add silicone as a patch. personally id purchase a new tank. btw bow front tanks are a lot mer prone to leakign then rectangular tanks!

If you arent confident about your glass re-sealing abilities then you can also add a patch too since this is the bottom seal. ie clean out old silicone thoroughly as you normally would and add a thin strip of glass along the seal. This will give the silicon more glass to bond to as well as physically being thicker/more glue seams for water to get through.

Check all the other seals before you decide what to do. While re-sealing is easy, the time and effort cleaning off all the glue may not be worth it for you.
