ok i think i made a big mistake, i just got a 150 gallon for my clown triggerfish, anyways i filled the 150 up with NEW water and transfered everything over, ( i think this is where i went wrong) all my livestalk did good for about the first 2 days, then died, now everything dies with in the first few hours of putting it in, is it because my tank needs to cycle?

omg! yes sir you need a cycle the ***** out of that tank. Are you using the same filter? You should have transferred the water from the old tank along witht the sand. What did you do exactly?

ok i totaly messed up, sigh.... i cleaned out the filter befor i made the transfer, i cleaned the media and everything, everything is new in the tank, everything i test the water with the kits, the amonia etc is not off teh charts? ??? does this mean i have a contament? i already did two diffrent water changes incase there was something in the tank.....sorry about the spelling

well lets see. you cleaned everything out which means 0 zero bacteria. you need major bacteria for your saltwater bro. cycle the tank and get some damzel in there like 3 or 4 of em. stop doing water changes. you need to run this for several weeks or when your water params are suitable.

what are the water Parameters. I would say you deffinatly need to cycle the tank. it could very well be a contaminant but to rule that as likely The Parameters will be necassary. cleaning the filter and everything likely took out all you BB

o yeh something else important i left out, the first time i did the transfer, my filter collected a bunch of nasty smelling black stuff on the filter media? and it was visable threw the outlet tube going back into the tank ( the black stuff that is) when that happened i went out and bought new media for the filter...... i tested everything with the kit and all came back good...

i think it just need a cycle . check water params every 3 days to see if anything changes. Any ammonia spikes ect.
